The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan met SWIFT representatives during Sibos 2026 to discuss next steps for implementing ISO 20022 and moving the country’s banking system to modern financial messaging formats. The talks formed part of the central bank delegation’s broader engagement at the forum on digital finance and cross-border payments. The parties considered coordination between the central bank and domestic credit financial institutions to support an orderly transition, as well as possible joint training on implementation, new message formats and international experience. They also discussed central bank digital currency, compliance, payment technologies, international payment mechanisms and the security of cross-border transactions.
