Tanzania's Ministry of Finance held a targeted capacity-building programme for Microfinance Services Coordinators across ministries, regions and local councils, aiming to strengthen financial education for citizens and steer households toward formal financial channels recognised and supervised by the government. Opening the training in Dodoma, the Commissioner for Financial Sector Development, Dr Charles Mwamwaja, instructed coordinators to increase speed, innovation and professionalism in community outreach, and to translate the training content into practical guidance for citizens on using banks, savings and credit cooperative societies, registered community savings groups and other supervised institutions. The programme was organised with the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, the Bank of Tanzania and the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission, and included participants from 13 regions.
