The Central Bank of Peru published a survey of 345 nonfinancial companies showing that 83% have adopted or plan to adopt preventive measures against El Niño. The most common measures are establishing alternative logistics routes, preparing business continuity plans and reinforcing facilities. Among companies not planning measures, most operate in services, commerce and manufacturing. Logistics delays or higher logistics costs are the most widely expected effect, cited by 62%, while 67% anticipate higher overall costs. Although 63% expect no change in selling prices, 48% forecast lower sales and 46% expect reduced production. Risks are more pronounced in northern Peru, where 94% of companies are preparing, all expect some impact, 81% foresee lower sales and 69% anticipate reduced production.
