The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, has reappointed Megan Greene as an external member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), extending her tenure for a second term. Greene’s current three-year term was due to end on 4 July 2026, and the reappointment means she will remain on the MPC until 4 July 2029. The Bank noted that external MPC members are appointed by the Chancellor and may serve up to two three-year terms, and that reappointments are not automatic and are considered on their merits under the Governance Code for Public Appointments.
