The House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee of the UK Parliament has launched an inquiry, with a call for evidence, into the regulation of the consumer market for home and travel insurance. The review will examine whether the current framework is effective and properly enforced, and whether regulators or the Government need to do anything differently. The inquiry covers insurance distribution, including products sold directly and through intermediaries, as well as claims handling, enforcement of the rules and the resolution of disputes between insurance firms and consumers. Committee chair Baroness Noakes said the work is intended to test whether the market is working for people who buy home and travel insurance, and the committee is inviting evidence and views from those with expertise or interest in the area.
