The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) participated in the 8th Legal Insurance Seminar in Brasília, with Superintendent Alessandro Octaviani and Director Carlos Queiroz joining judges, experts and industry representatives to discuss Law 15.040/2024, known as Brazil’s Insurance Legal Framework. Octaviani spoke in the opening session and in a panel on the new private insurance “microsystem” in Brazil, framing the legislation as strengthening the regulatory environment and increasing legal certainty in contractual relations, and highlighting that its drafting followed extensive dialogue among government, the sector and society. Queiroz took part in a panel on regulation and claims settlement, focusing on practical aspects of applying the new law, including changes to claims adjustment and settlement rules and the resulting impacts on insurer-consumer relationships.
