The European Payments Council has issued its annual update to the Guidelines on cryptographic algorithms usage and key management, providing the European payments industry with refreshed guidance on cryptographic algorithms, security protocols, confidentiality and integrity protection, and related key management practices. The guidelines are aimed at payment service providers, particularly security officers, risk managers, system engineers and system designers. The update reflects the EPC’s annual review process to keep the document aligned with referenced materials and current state of the art given ongoing cryptology research and development.
