The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) took part in the “Open Finance 5 years: Connecting the Future” event organised by the Central Bank of Brazil with the Open Finance Association and Fenasbac, with SUSEP Director for Market Infrastructure and Conduct Supervision Júlia Normande Lins speaking on a panel focused on ecosystem integration. The session discussed progress in Open Insurance, benefits and challenges around investment portability, the implications of Brazil’s General Data Protection Law for data-sharing ecosystems, and interoperability prospects in Brazil and abroad. Lins highlighted implementation challenges for Open Insurance and the importance of consumer engagement, arguing that the shift in how customer data is used by financial institutions needs to be anchored in trust and customer experience. She referenced Joint Resolution No. 5/2022 as a milestone for interoperability and stressed that coordinated progress by SUSEP, the Central Bank and the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission would increase sector-wide benefits.
