The Central Bank of Paraguay published an account of its Women Leaders in Economics forum, held ahead of International Women's Day, which focused on progress and remaining challenges in gender equity and inclusion in Paraguay's economic and financial system. The event centered on two themes: access to financial and insurance services, and women's participation in leadership and decision-making. In opening remarks, Central Bank of Paraguay President Carlos Carvallo reiterated the institution's commitment to equal opportunity and called for greater female participation in public policy design and leadership roles. Discussion in the first panel highlighted gender gaps in the workforce and in senior positions, alongside the need for financial products better adapted to women's needs. Carmen Marín linked that work to the central bank's public policy role. Insurance Superintendent Jazmín Bernal said women account for 45% of insurance purchasers and pointed to inclusion and financial education strategies as part of efforts to strengthen an insurance market equivalent to 1.2% of gross domestic product. The second panel focused on barriers to leadership roles, with Liana Caballero arguing that greater equity in senior positions strengthens the Central Bank of Paraguay's credibility and public trust.
