The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has launched the Open Insurance project, a data-exchange system intended to connect information across Thailand’s insurance sector through common standards with an emphasis on transparency and security. OIC positioned Open Insurance as a digital infrastructure initiative to help insurers use data and technology to reduce costs, improve service accuracy and develop products better aligned with consumer needs. It also highlighted fraud prevention through the use of reliable, auditable data, and framed the system as supporting preventive supervision by improving how supervisory data can be used. The project kick-off brought together the Thai General Insurance Association, the Thai Life Assurance Association, insurance company executives and other relevant agencies, with more than 200 participants.
