The Bulgarian National Bank announced extraordinary customer opening of its cash desks on 13 December 2025 and 20 December 2025 to meet increased demand for euro coin starter kits ahead of Bulgaria’s entry into the euro area from 1 January 2026. Both the cash desks at the Bulgarian National Bank’s central building in Sofia and the Sofia Cash Centre will operate from 8:30 to 15:45 without interruption. The central building cash desks will only sell euro coin starter kits to individuals, while the Cash Centre will only sell starter kits to individuals and exchange lev coins and banknotes.
