The National Bank of Moldova published provisional data showing that Moldova’s gross external debt increased by 0.9% over 2024 to USD 10,213.33 million as at 31 December 2024. The debt stock was equivalent to 56.1% of GDP, 4.4 percentage points lower than at 31 December 2023. Public external debt accounted for 42.2% of total gross external debt at USD 4,310.26 million, up 12.8% since the start of the year, while private external debt totalled USD 5,903.07 million, down 6.3% versus 31 December 2023.
