The Albania Financial Services Authority published its statistical bulletin on Albania’s insurance market for 2025, showing gross written premiums of ALL 27,090 million, up 10.54% from 2024, and 1,676,640 insurance contracts, up 5.07%. Gross paid claims totalled around ALL 8,591 million, down 0.75% year on year. Non-life insurance accounted for 90.99% of premium volume, compared with 8.99% for life insurance and 0.025% for reinsurance, while compulsory lines represented 62.38% of total premiums. Compulsory motor insurance premiums reached about ALL 16,900 million (up 12.22%), with domestic MTPL premiums up 13.32% and contracts up 6.85%; Green Card premiums rose 8.19% while contracts fell 3.99%; and border insurance premiums fell 0.64% with contracts down 1.28%. Motor insurance paid claims were ALL 6,537 million (up 4.78%) and represented 76.09% of total paid claims, with average paid claims rising to ALL 166,000 for domestic MTPL and ALL 116,000 for casco, while the Green Card average fell to ALL 621,000. Voluntary insurance premiums were about ALL 10,191 million (up 7.88%) and the number of voluntary contracts rose 10.00%, with voluntary non-life premiums up 5.20%. Life insurance premiums increased 17.62% to around ALL 2,435 million, and accident and health premiums reached about ALL 1,444 million (up 3.71%).
