Hong Kong's Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Johnny Ma Ka-chun, SC, as Chairperson of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal (IAT) for a three-year term from 13 June 2025 to 12 June 2028. The Government described the IAT as a safeguard for reviewing specified regulatory decisions made by the Insurance Authority (IA) and cited Mr Ma’s legal and public service experience. It also thanked the outgoing Chairperson, Ms Rachel Lam Yan-kay, SC. The IAT is a statutory tribunal established in 2017 under the Insurance Ordinance (Cap. 41) to review specified IA decisions and to hear and determine questions or issues arising out of or in connection with a review.

Hong Kong's Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau appointed Mr Johnny Ma Ka-chun, SC, as Chairperson of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal (IAT) for a three-year term starting 13 June 2025. The IAT, established in 2017 under the Insurance Ordinance, reviews specified regulatory decisions by the Insurance Authority. The government acknowledged Mr Ma's legal and public service experience and thanked outgoing Chairperson Ms Rachel Lam Yan-kay, SC.
