Ghana’s Minister for Finance Cassiel Ato Forson met International Finance Corporation Managing Director Makhtar Diop to discuss the country’s economic progress and plans for private sector led growth. The government’s next phase of economic transformation will focus on commercial agriculture, value addition and job creation. Forson identified sugar, cocoa processing, palm oil and poultry as priority areas for increased private investment and highlighted Ghana’s ambition to become West Africa’s pharmaceutical hub. Diop welcomed Ghana’s recent reduction in inflation and affirmed the International Finance Corporation’s continued support for the country’s development agenda.
