The Angola Capital Markets Commission reported its participation in a Sept. 8-10 capacity-building program in Mauritius for board members of regulators belonging to the Southern African Development Community’s Committee of Insurance, Securities and Non-Banking Financial Authorities. Represented by Executive Director Herlânder Diogo, the commission joined regional discussions on shifting governance and supervision toward anticipating technological, market and climate-related risks. The program examined generative artificial intelligence’s potential to improve regulatory analysis, supervision and decision-making, alongside the need for technology oversight, AI risk management, data protection and appropriate board-level expertise. Participants also discussed data-driven regulation, automation, cybersecurity, climate resilience and professional skills frameworks, including continuous training and closer links between academic institutions and the financial sector.
