The Bank of Korea reported a preliminary current account surplus of USD 49.73 billion for June 2026, up from USD 38.61 billion in May. The goods account generated a USD 47.89 billion surplus as exports rose 84.5% year over year to USD 112.37 billion, while the primary income account recorded a USD 3.27 billion surplus. These gains outweighed a USD 1.29 billion services deficit and a USD 0.14 billion secondary income deficit. Financial account net assets increased by USD 46.71 billion. Portfolio investment accounted for a USD 29.88 billion net increase, driven mainly by a USD 26.32 billion decline in liabilities, while direct investment contributed USD 3.38 billion and other investment USD 5.89 billion. Reserve assets rose by USD 1.45 billion.
