The Central Bank of Jordan announced that the digital identity available through the Sanad application will be accepted by all banks operating in Jordan as an official, approved method for verifying customer identity, equivalent to presenting a traditional personal ID when carrying out banking transactions and services. Under the new arrangement, customers can complete banking transactions by showing their digital identity in the Sanad app without needing to present a physical ID, using approved secure electronic verification mechanisms designed to protect data. The central bank framed the step as part of efforts to automate and digitise banking processes, supporting operational efficiency, simpler procedures, improved customer experience, and stronger security in identity verification, and it will continue coordinating with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and other relevant institutions to further develop Jordan’s digital financial services ecosystem.
