The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced that YJ Fischer will leave her role as Director of the Office of International Affairs on 20 January 2025, after serving in the position since August 2021. During her tenure, the Office of International Affairs strengthened international enforcement cooperation in key jurisdictions, including around witness testimony and access to audit workpapers and other financial records. The office also worked to address obstacles to SEC examinations of overseas market participants, systematized cooperation with foreign counterparts during market stress events, supported implementation of the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act to enable full Public Company Accounting Oversight Board inspections and investigations of auditors in China and Hong Kong, and expanded its technical assistance program through remote delivery and a broader curriculum.
