The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten announced that it will issue a special coloured Caribbean guilder (Cg) 0.50 circulation coin on 1 July 2025 to mark the end of the co-circulation period and the Caribbean guilder becoming the sole legal tender in Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The coin keeps the regular 50-cent design but adds colour, and will be issued in two obverse versions bearing either “Curaçao” or “Sint Maarten”, with both versions circulating in both countries. The coloured obverse depicts an orange blossom, while the reverse shows the denomination with thirty pearls symbolising 10 October 2010 and includes three Favoured Tellin shells. Minted in limited quantities by the Royal Canadian Mint, the coin will enter circulation through commercial banks, carry the same face value as the standard Cg 0.50 coin, and is expected to appeal to collectors.
