The Ghana National Insurance Commission has inaugurated the Insurance Retirees Forum of Ghana as a formal channel to keep retired insurance professionals engaged in the sector. The initiative is intended to preserve institutional memory, reinforce ethics and professionalism, and use retirees as mentors and advisers as part of the commission’s agenda to strengthen and grow Ghana’s insurance industry. At the launch, Commissioner of Insurance Abiba Zakariah said the commission plans to build a structured platform to harness retirees’ experience, integrate them into strategic planning and maintain their influence on the sector’s development. She also outlined plans for a dedicated retirees fund. The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana will drive the forum with other industry bodies. Its stated functions include mentorship and legacy transfer, technical advisory support for policy and standards review, welfare and wellness support for retirees, and a national professional networking platform. An Interim Advisory Council was also sworn in at the inauguration.
