The European Banking Authority has launched its 2025 EU-wide Transparency Exercise, aiming to strengthen transparency and market discipline by publishing consistent, comparable information on the condition of EU banks alongside firms’ own Pillar 3 disclosures under the EU Capital Requirements Directive. The exercise will disclose data for over 100 major EU banks on capital positions, financial assets, risk exposure amounts, sovereign exposures and asset quality, covering the period from the third quarter of 2024 to the second quarter of 2025. Results are due at the beginning of December alongside the EBA’s Risk Assessment Report, supported by interactive tools to compare data across time, countries and individual banks. The disclosure relies exclusively on supervisory reporting data, with no additional reporting burden for banks.
