The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan has approved guidelines on green and sustainability-linked loans to support and encourage the development of this segment of lending as part of its Sustainable Finance Roadmap 2023–2026. The guidelines draw on the widely used Green Loan Principles and Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles from international financial markets and set out recommendations for credit institutions on originating green and sustainability-linked loans. They also cover recommendations for developing internal policies and procedures for managing a green and sustainability-linked loan portfolio and for defining the overall governance framework.
