Finland's Ministry of Finance announced that Finance Minister Riikka Purra will represent Finland at the informal meeting of EU finance ministers in Copenhagen on 19–20 September, and at the Eurogroup meeting on 19 September held in the same context. The agenda includes discussions on simplifying financial market regulation alongside wider economic-policy themes. At the informal finance ministers meeting, participants will discuss simplifying financial market regulation, structural reforms to strengthen productivity and competitiveness, the economic impact of geopolitics on Europe, and the economic consequences of EU legislation. The Eurogroup agenda covers the Eurogroup work programme and macroeconomic developments, including an exchange of views with the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, while the extended Eurogroup will receive a situational update on the digital euro. Bank of Finland Board Member Tuomas Välimäki will also attend.
