The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that the weighted average interest rate on new loans from five major domestic banks rose by 0.020 percentage points in August, to 2.187% from 2.167% in July. Rates increased across all loan categories except capital expenditure loans. With no new lending to the Treasury during August, the rate excluding Treasury borrowing was also 2.187%.
