Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance, together with the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Ministry of Development and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, announced that the “Know Your Business” (eGov-KYB) platform is now available, enabling automated retrieval and transmission of legal entity data from public sector information systems to credit institutions and financial organisations to support due diligence obligations. The process is intended to replace in-branch, paper-based submissions and reduce the need for legal entities to collect and periodically update documentation in order to maintain a bank account. The data set includes core company information, contact details, tax data, and information on representatives, partners, members and managers. Legal representatives can access eGov-KYB via gov.gr (Business Activity section), directly at kyb.gov.gr, or through redirection from a bank or financial institution, authenticate using TaxisNet credentials with a second factor via the National Communication Registry, and have their representative capacity verified through interoperability with the General Commercial Registry. The platform then pulls data in real time via the Interoperability Centre and displays it for review, after which the legal representative provides digital approval for transmission and is responsible for having informed and obtained approval from all individuals whose data will be shared; transmitted data are digitally signed with the Ministry of Digital Governance’s advanced electronic seal.
