The Canadian Bankers Association has published new and updated consumer-facing resources under its “Your Bank Will Never Ask” campaign to help Canadians detect and avoid fraudulent communications, with a focus on emerging threats including false representative scams and AI-generated scams. The materials, distributed via the CBA website and social channels, include reminders of requests banks will not make, such as asking for sensitive information by email or text or requesting remote access to a customer’s computer, alongside education on identifying AI-generated fraud and links to fraud prevention toolkits, quizzes, and related resources. The campaign aligns with the national Fraud Prevention Month initiative led by the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center, the Competition Bureau and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and uses the hashtag #FPM2025.
