The National Bank of Georgia has published its 2026-2028 supervisory strategy, setting out its medium-term supervisory priorities and action plan for the financial sector. The strategy is intended to improve predictability for market participants and give stakeholders clearer visibility into the central bank’s supervisory priorities and plans. The document identifies five priorities for 2026-2028: closer alignment with international best practices and standards, stronger risk management frameworks to support the financial sector’s sustainable functioning, development of financial innovation alongside competition and consumer rights protection, development of the securities market, and stronger forward-looking supervision with greater inclusiveness. The strategy was developed through a consultative process that included an initial questionnaire and a public discussion of a working draft, with priorities shaped by stakeholder feedback, analysis of international practice and trends, supervisory needs, and recommendations from international partners. It also includes the planned activities under each priority, the related action plan, a review of significant events in 2025, and an account of strategy implementation over the past year.
