The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission said its representatives attended the royal cremation ceremony for seven monks killed after a car struck a group of monks on pilgrimage in Mukdahan province, and witnessed the payment of insurance compensation to the eligible relatives. The insurer of the vehicle involved paid THB 500,000 for each death, for a total of THB 3.5 million. The Office of Insurance Commission said it had monitored the case and coordinated closely with the insurance company from the date of the accident to ensure that victims and eligible relatives received the insurance benefits required by law in full, promptly and fairly. The payment was made before the cremation ceremony as part of the claims process for the fatal accident.
