The Central Bank of Afghanistan said First Deputy Governor Sediqullah Khalid met Afghanistan–America Chamber of Commerce Chairman Jeffrey Grieco to discuss the development of banking relations among Afghanistan’s commercial banks and support for trade, investment opportunities and the banking sector. The meeting also covered traders’ banking challenges, electronic banking, international money transfers, improved financial services and stronger economic activity in Afghanistan. During the talks, Khalid said the central bank is working to build a stable banking system and expand cooperation with domestic and international institutions to support the private sector and trade. The chief executive of the Afghanistan Banks’ Association and a deputy director from the central bank’s banking supervision and financial services area also attended.
