The Tanzania Capital Market and Securities Authority, together with the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) and iTrust Finance Limited, announced the launch and listing of the iTrust EAC Large Cap Exchange Traded Fund (IEACLC-ETF) on the DSE, described as the first regional ETF to be listed on a stock exchange in East Africa. Managed by iTrust Finance Limited with NBC Bank Limited as custodian, the ETF tracks a diversified portfolio of large-cap equities listed across East African Community stock exchanges, including CRDB Bank, NMB Bank, Vodacom Tanzania, Safaricom, Equity Group Holdings, KCB Group, MTN Uganda, Stanbic Bank Uganda and Bank of Kigali. The product is designed to provide transparent, diversified and cost-effective access to regional equity markets, with units tradable throughout the day at prevailing market prices. CMSA reported the initial public offer achieved a 540% success rate, with 99.44% retail and 0.56% institutional investor participation, and encouraged other licensed fund managers and market intermediaries to introduce additional innovative products.
