The State Bank of Vietnam held a launch ceremony at its headquarters to mobilise support for communities in localities damaged by Typhoon No. 10, following an appeal by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. Governor Nguyen Thi Hong asked heads of units to ensure 100% of officials, public employees and workers contribute at least one day’s salary, with additional donations possible in cash or other forms. The appeal follows a Vietnam Fatherland Front call issued on 02/10/2025 that encouraged each person paid from the state budget to donate at least one day’s salary. The State Bank of Vietnam also highlighted broader banking-sector support for disaster-affected communities, including contributions of more than VND 85 billion in 2024 and over VND 500 billion since 2020. Separately, the State Bank of Vietnam referenced Official Letter No. 8622/NHNN-TD dated 02/10/2025, which required credit institutions to proactively review and support affected borrowers by restructuring repayment schedules, considering interest waivers or reductions, extending new credit to restore production, and handling debts in line with existing rules, while regional State Bank branches were tasked with directing and supervising implementation and coordinating with local authorities on support measures.
