Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance reported on Finance Minister Gilles Roth’s participation in the World Artificial Intelligence Cannes Festival (WAICF) 2025, where he promoted “human-scale” artificial intelligence, urged Europe to attract investment through renewed ambition, and positioned Luxembourg as a global entry point for innovative finance-focused firms. The release also highlights the signing, in his presence, of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the EuropAI Institute and Cloud Community Europe – Luxembourg (CCEL) to transform CCEL into a Luxembourg chapter of AI Europe. Roth welcomed EuropAI’s decision to establish in Luxembourg with the ambition to develop new AI activities. He inaugurated the Luxembourg stand coordinated by the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), which brought together around 60 representatives of Luxembourg companies, and toured the festival’s 220 stands. The update also covers related visits to the Sophia Antipolis innovation hub, Accenture Labs, and the Maison de l’intelligence artificielle in Biot, as well as remarks at a University Côte d’Azur conference on AI regulation advocating a balance between citizen protection and economic innovation and emphasising the importance of research for Europe’s future.
