The Bank of Cape Verde reported on its participation in a Sept. 8-9 meeting in Macao of central banks from Portuguese speaking countries, focused on harmonizing statistical practices, aligning them with international standards and preparing for emerging challenges in official statistics. Discussions covered challenges in compiling external sector statistics and preparations to implement the seventh edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, known as BPM7. Participants also addressed developments in electronic payments statistics, the organization of central bank statistical functions and coordination with national agencies responsible for official statistics.
