The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) delivered insurance education to children and youth participating in the Convention, Social and Economic Empowerment (CSEE) programme, through a seminar held at TIRA’s Eastern Zone offices. The session covered TIRA’s mandate and different types of insurance, with Eastern Zone Manager Zakaria Muyengi encouraging participants to share practical messages on insurance uptake, including health insurance, with parents and guardians. Attendees were also introduced to the status of Tanzania’s insurance market and TIRA’s service systems (TIRAMIS and ORS), alongside briefings on the Universal Health Insurance initiative from a National Health Insurance Fund officer, including how the fund works with TIRA to ensure services are provided in line with citizens’ income. The seminar included a “Bima Challenge” quiz with prizes for correct answers. TIRA also highlighted that its Eastern Zone office provides insurance-sector services including registration and licensing of insurance service providers and public insurance education across Dar es Salaam, Pwani and Morogoro.
