The National Bank of Moldova announced it will hold a high-level conference on 19 December 2025 titled “BNM 2025 – Momentum European: A year of progress and integration”, focused on milestones in the Republic of Moldova’s integration into the European financial architecture. The event will bring together senior national and European officials, financial sector representatives, economic experts and international partners to discuss modernisation of financial infrastructure and its economic and social impact. The agenda includes speeches, thematic presentations and panel discussions on recent developments in digital payments, as well as the security and efficiency of payment systems and their role in financial stability and economic competitiveness. A particular focus will be the Republic of Moldova’s operational connection to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) from 6 October 2025 and the development and expansion of MIA Instant Payments (MIA Plăți Instant), which enables payments to be made within seconds. The release also recapped that the SEPA accession process began on 30 January 2024, with the European Payments Council approving the country’s inclusion in the SEPA geographical area on 6 March 2025; operational connection on 6 October 2025 was described as completing this process and enabling access to fast, efficient and competitive payment services aligned with European standards.
