The European Central Bank released its consolidated weekly financial statement for the Eurosystem, showing a balance sheet total of EUR 6.09tn, up EUR 5.2bn from the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations rose by EUR 2.9bn to EUR 22.8bn, driven mainly by an increase in main refinancing operations to EUR 10.1bn and a rise in the marginal lending facility to EUR 0.35bn. Securities of euro area residents denominated in euro fell by EUR 0.7bn to EUR 4.20tn, reflecting a EUR 1.4bn decline in securities held for monetary policy purposes, partly offset by an increase in other securities. On the liability side, monetary policy-related liabilities to euro area credit institutions increased by EUR 3.1bn to EUR 2.82tn, with current accounts up EUR 12.9bn to EUR 171.2bn and the deposit facility down EUR 9.7bn to EUR 2.65tn. Annexes and a commentary are scheduled for 2 September 2025.
