The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) reported that Governor Nguyễn Thị Hồng led an SBV delegation to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) regular Governors’ meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, and for the first time chaired the Asian Consultative Council (ACC) Governors’ meeting since becoming ACC Chair in September 2024. Discussions focused on regional macro-financial developments, emerging trends and policy issues in a volatile global environment. The delegation also attended the BIS Global Economy Meeting and the Governors’ Plenary, forums for sharing updates on international economic and financial market developments and central banking priorities. On the sidelines, the Governor held bilateral meetings with the BIS Asia-Pacific Regional Office, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Bank Indonesia and the Reserve Bank of India on monetary policy operations, banking sector developments and future cooperation, and met Viet Nam’s Ambassador to South Africa (also accredited to Botswana) and the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank to review bilateral cooperation in economic, monetary and banking matters.
