The Central Bank of Mexico launched a public consultation on draft amendments that would expand the operating levels for demand deposit accounts denominated in national currency under its rules for credit institutions, certain regulated multiple-purpose financial companies linked to banks, and the National Agro, Rural, Forestry and Fisheries Development Finance institution. The proposal would create a new “level 3 Bis” account for Mexican nationals resident in Mexico. These accounts would be permitted to receive cumulative monthly credits of up to 15,000 UDIS, while cash credits would be capped at 3,000 UDIS per month; the draft circular and consultation plan are available on Banco de México’s online consultation portal. Comments from the general public will be accepted only through the portal until 18:00 Mexico City time on 30 April 2026.
