The People's Bank of China held its 2025 research (counsellor) work conference, reviewing 2024 outcomes and setting the central bank’s 2025 agenda for its research and advisory line. The programme is framed around supporting the “financial powerhouse” objective, the “five major articles” priorities, and regional financial reform and development. The review credited 2024 work with progress in research on key economic and financial issues, advancing the green finance system, coordinating regional financial reform and financial support for coordinated regional development, and improving internal mechanisms for the counsellor function. For 2025, the research and advisory line was tasked with applying the “five must coordinate” approach, deepening field research, better integrating system-wide resources, and upgrading research capability to strengthen its policy support role; Deputy Governor Lu Lei attended and delivered remarks, with relevant head-office departments and the Financial Research Institute participating alongside branches via sub-venues.
