South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance announced completion of the operating system that will allow individuals to invest directly in 10-year and 20-year government bonds for individual investors through defined contribution and individual retirement pension accounts from September. The first subscription period will run from Sept. 9 to Sept. 15. Initially, investors must hold an eligible retirement pension account with Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank or NH NongHyup Bank, or with Mirae Asset Securities, Samsung Securities, Korea Investment & Securities, KB Securities or NH Investment & Securities. The ministry plans to expand access gradually to other financial institutions.
