The Securities Commission of The Bahamas has launched a consultation on revised fees for investment funds and other persons licensed, registered or approved under the Investment Funds Act, 2019. The proposed rules would generally increase certain fees, clarify the charges applicable to investment fund managers and replace the 2024 fee rules. The proposed structure covers application, licensing, registration, annual and administrative fees for funds, administrators and managers. Investment fund manager fees would apply per fund, while managers registered under the Securities Industry Act would pay only the application fee. A new administrative fee would apply when investment fund administrators request extensions to file audited financial statements, with a maximum of two six-month extensions. The rules are proposed to take effect on Jan. 1, 2027. Annual renewal fees would be prorated from the licensing, registration or approval date through Dec. 31 of that year, and fees would be nonrefundable unless the commission grants an exemption.
