The Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission has issued a directive requiring proof of registration or renewal of registration with the Data Protection Commission as part of the eligibility criteria for the licensing or registration of all market operators. The measure adds data protection registration to the conditions firms must meet to obtain or maintain authorization in Ghana's capital markets. All Capital Market Operators are directed to register with the Data Protection Commission in line with sections 27(1) and 46(3) of the Data Protection Act, 2012 and to comply with that law's requirements. The directive cites the Securities Industry Act, the Securities Industry Conduct of Business Guidelines 2020 and the Data Protection Act as its basis.
