The Reserve Bank of Australia reported that its balance sheet contracted by AUD 5.331 billion to AUD 349.795 billion at the close of business on Oct. 7, 2026. Gold and foreign exchange assets fell by AUD 3.556 billion to AUD 111.568 billion, while Australian dollar investments declined by AUD 1.243 billion to AUD 235.186 billion. Both decreases mainly reflected transactions during the week rather than valuation changes. On the liabilities side, Exchange Settlement balances rose by AUD 6.306 billion to AUD 196.456 billion. This was more than offset by a AUD 7.343 billion decline in other deposits and a AUD 4.164 billion reduction in other liabilities. Australian notes on issue increased by AUD 234 million to AUD 109.102 billion.
