The Alberta Securities Commission announced that the Lieutenant Governor in Council has appointed Deanna Steblyk, K.C. as a Vice-Chair of the ASC for a term expiring on March 10, 2032. She succeeds outgoing Vice-Chair Tom Cotter, who is retiring. In the Vice-Chair role, Steblyk will also serve as a Commission Member, with members acting as the ASC’s board of directors overseeing management of the Commission and considering and approving changes to Alberta securities laws. The ASC highlighted Steblyk’s experience as a senior Alberta-trained lawyer with administrative and securities law expertise, her tenure at the ASC since 2008 including securities enforcement prosecution and subsequent work supporting the Office of the Vice-Chairs, and noted Cotter’s 12-year tenure, including work on precedent-setting panels and participation in the North American Securities Administrators Association.

The Alberta Securities Commission appointed Deanna Steblyk, K.C. as Vice-Chair, succeeding Tom Cotter, effective until March 10, 2032. Steblyk, a senior lawyer with extensive experience in administrative and securities law, has been with the ASC since 2008. As Vice-Chair, she will also serve as a Commission Member, overseeing management and securities law changes.
