The Central Bank of Egypt published January 2026 inflation readings, showing a pickup in monthly inflation from December while annual rates edged lower. Urban headline CPI inflation was 1.2 percent month on month in January 2026, compared with 0.2 percent in December 2025 and 1.5 percent in January 2025. On a year-on-year basis, urban headline CPI inflation slowed to 11.9 percent from 12.3 percent in December 2025. Core CPI inflation, computed by the Central Bank of Egypt, was 1.2 percent month on month versus 0.2 percent in December 2025 and 1.7 percent in January 2025, while annual core inflation eased to 11.2 percent from 11.8 percent. The monthly inflation note is scheduled for publication on 15 February 2026.

The Central Bank of Egypt reported an increase in monthly urban headline CPI inflation to 1.2% in January 2026 from 0.2% in December 2025, while the annual rate decreased to 11.9% from 12.3%. Core CPI inflation also rose monthly to 1.2% from 0.2%, with the annual rate easing to 11.2% from 11.8%.
