The Bank of Thailand has declared Friday, October 16, 2026, a special non-working day for financial institutions and Specialized Financial Institutions in Bangkok, in line with the Cabinet's special public holiday for the Bangkok area during Thailand's hosting of the 2026 International Monetary Fund-World Bank Group Annual Meeting. As a result, the central bank will suspend BAHTNET services that day, which will disrupt certain high-value and interbank payment flows. Services to be suspended include fund transfers through BAHTNET, interbank check clearing and bulk payment transactions between banks. The Bank of Thailand also will not conduct financial market operations with its counterparties on October 16 and will not publish the related financial market benchmark rates. Public and business users planning high-value transfers, interbank check deposits, or payroll and vendor payments for that date are expected to complete them in advance or defer them to the next business day. BAHTNET will resume normal operations on Monday, October 19, 2026. Retail users that do not rely on BAHTNET will continue to have access to other channels, including mobile banking, ATMs and cash deposit machines.
