The South African Reserve Bank has published version 1.131 of its Currency and Exchanges Manual for Authorised Dealers, removing HSBC Bank as an Authorised Dealer from the manuals used to administer South Africa’s exchange control framework. The change is recorded under Circular 17-2026. In the manual’s section on authorised entities, the list of banks whose South African offices may act as Authorised Dealers for purposes of the Exchange Control Regulations no longer includes HSBC Bank. The manual continues to set out the permissions, conditions and reporting requirements that apply to authorised foreign exchange transactions handled by Authorised Dealers.
