The Portuguese Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF), in partnership with the Directorate-General for Consumers (DGC), has published a special edition of the Practical Guide for Older Consumers dedicated to insurance and pension funds, intended to support more informed financial decision-making by older consumers. The edition adds a dedicated section presenting information in clear, simple and accessible language tailored to this population segment, described as more vulnerable in consumer relationships. It covers precautions for motor, health and home insurance, basic principles for managing and investing savings in line with the older consumer’s profile and needs, fraud warning signs and prevention measures in a context of growing digitalisation, and consumer rights including complaint and dispute-resolution mechanisms. The guide was presented at a launch session held at the ASF auditorium on 15 March as part of World Consumer Rights Day, and it is available on an ongoing basis through ASF’s Consumer Portal under Informative Campaigns.
