The European Central Bank published the Eurosystem’s weekly financial statement, showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 6,070,838 million, a EUR 294 million increase from the previous week due to transactions. Securities of euro area residents denominated in euro were EUR 4,174,848 million, including EUR 3,873,498 million held for monetary policy purposes, while lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations stood at EUR 24,450 million. On the liability side, banknotes in circulation were EUR 1,589,067 million. Liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations totalled EUR 2,785,173 million, including a deposit facility balance of EUR 2,626,253 million, which increased by EUR 28,222 million as current accounts fell by EUR 25,317 million. Compared with the prior week, monetary policy lending rose by EUR 4,062 million, while securities held for monetary policy purposes declined by EUR 6,698 million.
